THE BENUE State Government has raised the age limit for intending applicants seeking for recruitment as teachers in the state.
The government, through the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), on Monday, September 2, 2024, called for applications from qualified indigenes of the state and pegged the age limit at 35.
However, following feedback from the public with widespread appeal, SUBEB, in a statement signed by its information officer, Ms Emmanuella Akese, said the board has decided to extend the age limit by ten years.
The statement said the increase in the age limit is to give room for more qualified candidates to apply. The statement however maintained that all other requirements for recruitment remain unchanged as earlier advertised.
“In response to numerous appeals from the public, the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is pleased to announce the revision of the age limit for applicants seeking teaching positions as advertised on Monday, 2nd September 2024. The Board has extended the age limit for eligible candidates from 35 years to 45 years. All other requirements remain the same.
“The Management encourages all interested and qualified Candidates who meet the new age requirement of 45 years to apply for the teaching positions,” the statement read.
National Record on Tuesday reported the resolve of the Benue State Government to recruit over 9,000 teachers through SUBEB.
