THE BENUE State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced the recruitment of teachers for primary schools in the state.

For many years now, there has been complaints of shortage of teachers for the state’s primary and secondary schools, a situation that has led to a drop in pupil attendance in public primary schools at the expense of private-owned nursery and primary schools.

Prior to the announcement by SUBEB on Monday via a circular calling for applications from suitably qualified applicants, Governor Hyacinth Alia had last Wednesday announced that the state government had concluded arrangements to recruit nine thousand, seven hundred teachers.

The governor had said the recruitment was aimed at bridging the existing gap in student-teacher ratio in the state.

Governor Alia, who made the announcement during the burial ceremony of Tor Jechira, Chief Clement Uganden, in Vandeikya LGA, said the additional teachers would enhance teaching and learning in public schools in the state.

According to the governor, the gesture will not only provide employment for qualified youths but also enable the government to deliver one of its core campaign promises of revolutionising the education sector.

The SUBEB circular stated that only indigenes of Benue State are eligible to apply, adding that applicants must possess relevant teaching qualifications which include NCE, B.Ed, B.Sc.Ed, and B.A. Ed).

Age limit for eligible applicant is pegged at not more than 35 years old while a declaration of age done in less than six months before the call for application will not be accepted.

The deadline for submission of application is September 15, 2024 at 12 while interested applicants are directed to visit SUBEB official website at: https://benuesubeb.org to submit their applications online.
