A 40-YEAR-OLD woman, Sandra Edward, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Kaduna High Court for an alleged N12million employment fraud.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna charged Edward with fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.
The EFCC prosecutor, Precious Onyeneho, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between July and Nov. 2023.
Onyeneho said the defendant with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of N12million from six job applicants under false pretence that she would provide employment for them.

The prosecution said the offence is contrary to the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Onyeneho urged the court to remand the defendant and fix a date for the commencement of trial.
But the defence counsel, Frank Julius prayed the court to grant the defendant bail pending the hearing and determination of the case.
Justice Darius Khobo, thereafter, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2million with sureties in like sum.

He said one of the sureties must be a blood relation who must reside within the court jurisdiction.
The Judge further said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Kaduna State Government. Khobo adjourned the matter until March 13, for commencement of trial. (NAN)
