Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has transmitted the first list of Commissioner-nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
National Record reported on Wednesday that Governor Alia had, in one fell swoop, removed all the commissioners in his cabinet.
According to a press statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the transmission, made on Friday, August 1, 2025, is in accordance with constitutional provisions guiding appointments into the state executive council.
The appointment of new commissioners is believed to be a major step towards consolidating the machinery of governance for improved service delivery.
The list comprises eight individuals drawn from various professional and political backgrounds.
The nominees include; Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue; Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver; Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, and Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo.
Others are; Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga; Hon. Denis Iyaighgba; Hon. James Dwem, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.
A second batch of nominees is expected to be sent to the assembly in the coming days, according to the CPS.
Kula quoted the governor as reiterating his administration’s commitment to transparency, competence, and inclusivity in selecting individuals who will help deliver on his government’s vision and mission for the state.
