BENUE State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has extended his ongoing administrative shake-up to the sports sector with the dissolution of the Board and Management of the state-owned football club, Lobi Stars FC, Makurdi.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the dissolution takes immediate effect.
Kula explained that the move was aimed at repositioning the club for greater efficiency, accountability, and improved performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and other competitions.
“The Governor further directed that all members of the dissolved management should hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity with immediate effect,” the statement added.
Governor Alia, while appreciating the outgoing board and management for their services to the club and the state, assured that a new management structure would soon be announced to drive the next phase of Lobi Stars’ growth and competitiveness.
He reassured of his administration’s commitment to sports development as a vital tool for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social cohesion in Benue State.
The dissolution of the Lobi Stars management follows a series of recent changes in the leadership of government boards and agencies as part of Alia’s efforts to strengthen performance and accountability across sectors.
Lobi Stars relapsed to abysmal performance after the exit of Mr Dominic Iorfa as Vice Chairman of the club who saved it from relegation.
