THE GOVERNOR of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has said the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has supported his recent remarks on the “controversial tax reforms and other policies” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
Mohammed said he received the support when the coalition paid him a condolence visit over the loss of his stepmother, Hajiya Hauwa Duguri.
The governor had criticised the tax reform bills presented to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu, saying it favours a section of the country to the detriment of northern Nigeria.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Mohammed said his statement was endorsed by the coalition as reflecting the genuine concerns of northerners who bear the brunt of the economic measures.

He said the CNG condemned the Presidency’s threats against him, describing them as unwarranted and dismissive of legitimate democratic discourse.
The governor said the coalition urged Tinubu to prioritise addressing the nation’s pressing economic and security challenges over personal attacks.
“I deeply appreciate this show of solidarity and remain committed to advocating for the welfare of my people. My administration will continue to tackle the challenges facing Bauchi State and the Northern region with unwavering resolve,” he said.
