THE PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State chapter, has condemned Thursday’s brutal attack and killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Anyiin Community of Logo LGA, as well as recent such attacks on some communities in Buruku and Agatu LGAs.

In a statement by the state publicity secretary of the party, Tim Nyōr, on Friday, PDP lamented that these attacks have resulted in the avoidable killing of scores of people and destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

“It is absolutely unacceptable that innocent citizens continue to face such vicious violence while those responsible for their protection, including the government and security forces, woefully fail in the discharge of their responsibilities,” stated Tim Nyor.

The PDP therefore expressed disappointment with Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration, accusing it of “utter silence and inaction” in addressing the recurring attacks, noting that despite the Benue State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, grazing continues unabated, leading to an escalation in killings.

The party demanded immediate intervention and comprehensive measures to protect Benue communities to ensure accountability for the Fulani herdsmen’s actions.

They also called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene, stating that Governor Alia’s inefficiency, despite significant federal allocations and security votes, is unacceptable.

The PDP reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights and security of every Benue State resident.
