SUSPECTED armed men alleged to be Fulani herdsmen abducted more than 27 passengers travelling to Makurdi on Thursday morning along the Adoka–Naka–Makurdi road near Jor Community in Gwer West LGA.
According to eyewitness accounts from two released victims — an elderly man and a woman carrying an infant — the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, ambushed two commercial vehicles: a Hummer bus and a Volkswagen saloon car.
The victims, reportedly indigenes of Kogi State, were forcibly ordered out of the vehicles and marched into the bush.
However, after some distance, the attackers released the elderly man and the woman, citing their physical vulnerability and the difficulty of the journey.
The freed victims, now stranded in Naka, recounted their ordeal to locals upon arrival at the motor park.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, and the whereabouts of the remaining passengers remain unknown at the time of this report.
