THE PLATEAU Government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state over recent security breach in the areas.
Mrs Joyce Ramnap, the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the state disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jos.
She said that the move is aimed at ensuring public order and curb emerging security threats in the areas.
The commissioner said that the curfew would commence from Monday, Sept. 21, noting that movement had been restricted between 6:00p.m. and 6:00a.m.
“Effective, Monday, Sept. 21, the restriction of movement is between 6:00p.m. and 6:00a.m. till further notice.
“This administration has taken the measure to allow law enforcement agencies to stabilise the area, protect lives, and prevent any breakdown of law and order within local communities.
Therefore, all residents of affected areas are expected to fully comply with the government’s directive for their own safety.
“Citizens are advised to plan their daily commercial, agricultural and personal activities in line with the restrictions to avoid unnecessary hardship or friction during the quiet hours,” she advised.
Ramnap said that security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew and the ban on use of motorcycles in the affected areas with immediate effect.
She, however, reassured law-abiding citizens of the state that the security personnel would be professional in carrying out their duties. (NAN)
