BENUE State governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to construct two major road networks in Vandeikya and Konshisha LGAs of the state which constitute Jechira federal constituency.

The governor’s pledge followed a request by the former senator representing Benue North East, Chief Barnabas Gemade, during the thanksgiving mass/reception organised in his (Alia) honour by Ityõ I Jechira (Jechira kinsmen) in Konshisha LGA on Sunday.

The two deplorable roads earmarked for construction are Vandeikya-Korinya-Tse-Agberagba-Gungul-Awajir and Ge-Ikyobo-Agbeede-Anshagba-Iber roads.

Alia, who enumerated his achievements including roads construction, solar light installation, prompt payment of salaries, among others in less than a year in office, urged his predecessors who may have good ideas to develop Benue State to support him but those without meaningful inputs should shut up because it’s his time to govern the state and he is going to give account of his stewardship at the end of the day.

From right: Benue speaker, Dajoh, Deputy Gov. Ode, Gov. Alia, Senator Gemade and others during the reception at Tse-Agberagba on Sunday.

“If you don’t have good ideas that will assist my administration, shut up your mouth and lock it with padlock because when this administration is to give report card, it is my name that will be written on it, not any other person’s name”, Alia cautioned former governors allegedly attacking his government.

Speaking on behalf of Jechira elders, Gemade, who also hotly contested the APC primaries with the incumbent governor, called on the people to support their son, Rev. Fr. Alia, to succeed in the interest of the state.

“May I seize this opportunity to advise my dear people of Jechira that you don’t enthrone a leader, and turn around to fight him back. Rally support for such a leader to succeed because his success will be all ours”, he said.

Governor Alia also reiterated his promise to clear the backlog of pension and salary arrears as pledged during his electioneering campaigns and advised Jechira people to join cooperative societies to support their businesses and farming.

In separate remarks, speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aõndona Dajoh, caretaker chairman, Konshisha LGC, who is the chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Philip Achua, chairlady of the occasion, Chief Felicia Ngunan Hoyo, among others lauded the achievements of Governor Alia within a year, canvassing unalloyed support from Jechira people for him to do more.
