“His commitment to preserving Nigeria’s unity during one of the most challenging periods in its history remains a defining feature of his legacy and a compelling reminder of the importance of visionary leadership and reconciliation in building a strong and united nation.

“His message of unity and mutual understanding remains profoundly relevant as Nigeria continues to confront security challenges and pursue sustainable development, national integration, and a shared vision of prosperity for all citizen,” Mutfwang stated.

The governor affirmed that Plateau was honoured to celebrate a revered father whose life and legacy exemplified patriotism, selfless service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to peace.

He noted that Gowon’s contributions to Nigeria’s unity remained a source of enduring national significance, and prayed that God would continue to preserve him in sound health, peace and strength, with many more fruitful years.
