        Fubara Backs Tinubu For Second Term, Urges National Support

        GOVERNOR Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

        He said renewed backing would sustain ongoing reforms and deepen development efforts across key sectors of the national economy.

        Fubara made the call while declaring open a meeting of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

        He noted that the gathering offered a platform for dialogue on peace, unity and the role of traditional institutions in governance.

        The governor described Tinubu as a dedicated and patriotic leader committed to repositioning the country through bold policy decisions.

        He stressed that continuity in leadership would enable the administration to consolidate its policies and expand ongoing programmes.

        According to him, policy consistency is critical for long-term planning, investor confidence and sustainable national development.

        Fubara said achievements recorded over the past three years showed clear potential for greater progress with another mandate.

        He pointed to economic reforms aimed at stabilising public finances and encouraging growth across productive sectors.

        The governor also cited improvements in infrastructure, including major road projects and ongoing investments in transportation networks nationwide.

        He said such developments were already impacting mobility, trade and access to economic opportunities across regions.

        Fubara urged Nigerians to rally behind the President to sustain policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

        He added that national support would strengthen implementation and ensure that reforms deliver meaningful outcomes for citizens.

        “In football, the saying goes that no coach changes a winning team. Nigerians must support the President at this crucial time,” Fubara said.

        He maintained that unity of purpose was essential for overcoming challenges and achieving shared national goals.

        The governor also emphasised unity, cooperation and solidarity among Southern states to accelerate development.

        He said stronger regional collaboration would enhance resource sharing, policy alignment and collective progress.

        Fubara noted that partnerships between states could unlock new opportunities in agriculture, trade and industrialisation.

        He said collaboration with the Federal Government would enable the region to achieve peace, security and economic growth more rapidly.

        According to him, coordinated efforts are necessary to address security concerns and promote stability across communities.

        Fubara noted that the presence of traditional rulers reflected Rivers’ peaceful nature and the region’s commitment to national unity.

        He said their participation underscored the importance of cultural institutions in sustaining harmony and social order.

        The governor urged traditional rulers to leverage their positions to promote cohesion and stability in their domains.

        He described them as vital links between government and grassroots communities, with influence over local peacebuilding efforts.

        Fubara commended their role in sustaining peace and resolving conflicts within communities across the region.

        He urged them to remain focused on advancing cultural, economic and political interests of their people.

        The governor encouraged productive discussions at the meeting to foster unity and development in Southern Nigeria and the country.

        He said outcomes from the deliberations should support inclusive governance and strengthen national integration.

        The meeting brought together traditional rulers from the South-South, South-East and South-West to deliberate on promoting peace and cohesion.

        Participants also examined strategies for enhancing the relevance of traditional institutions in modern governance structures.

        Attendees included council chairman Adeyeye Ogunwusi, co-chairman Cletus Ilomuanya, Rashidi Ladoja and Rivers council chairman, Chike Wodo, among others.

        They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote unity, stability and sustainable development across the southern region and Nigeria. (NAN)
