THE inquest proceedings on the alleged murder of a domestic worker, Joy Adole, has been shifted indefinitely as a result of the curfew imposed by the Lagos State government following the massacre of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate by unknown soldiers on Tuesday.

The information on the postponement of the sitting was conveyed to the family of the allegedly murdered Joy Adole and International Lawyers Assisting Workers (ILAW) Network through Femi Aborisade, human rights lawyer and Managing Partner of Abope Chambers.
Conveying the message of the postponement on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Registrar of Magistrate’s Court No. 5, Ebutte Metta, Lagos where the inquest would have held the following day, Wednesday, October 21, 2020, stated that shifting of the inquest was on account of the imposition of curfew by the Lagos State Government and that a new date will be set and communicated accordingly to the parties when things normalised.
Aborisade had in last September petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Lagos State Commissioner of Police as well as the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution raising issues with the conduct of an autopsy conducted on the body of the deceased.
He had demanded for another autopsy to be carried out to ascertain the actual cause of death of the domestic worker.
