DANGOTE Cement Transport Obajana has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to road safety and accident prevention with the successful hosting of its Drivers’ Safety Awareness Campaign Q1 2026, under the theme “2026, Our Year of Zero Harm.”
The campaign, held at the Obajana plant in Kogi State, brought together hundreds of truck drivers, senior managers, law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders in a unified effort to reinforce the company’s vision of zero accidents, zero injuries, and zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
In his opening remarks, Divisional Director Transport Obajana, Col. Hemant Rana, said safety is not just a corporate policy but a shared responsibility.
He reminded drivers that every journey must be guided by vigilance, discipline, and accountability.
Fleet Safety Lead Nigeria, Mr. Ozovehe Abraham, outlined the campaign’s objectives, stressing compliance with safety standards, defensive driving, and the need for drivers to act as ambassadors of safety on Nigerian highways.
Head of Pre-Trip Inspection (PTI), Mr. Charles Theophilus, highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, noting that partnerships with regulatory bodies are critical to raising national road safety standards.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), represented by Deputy State Commander and the Desk Officer, Joint Integrity Test: Mr. Momoh Yakubu warned against drug and substance abuse, harping on its devastating impact on driver performance and public safety.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), represented by Deputy Corps Commandant, Mr. Odogiyan Moses, strengthened the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations and compliance with national road safety laws.
The Nigeria Police Force, represented by ASP Raji Olakayode, reminded drivers of their duty to uphold lawful conduct and discipline on the highways.
Security experts including Rtd. Major Omotosho Isiaka and Rtd. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Mamman Audu urged drivers to remain vigilant, stressing the need for compliance with traffic rules and awareness of potential security contingencies.

Dangote Cement Transport Obajana has invested heavily in technology-driven monitoring systems to track driver behavior, vehicle speed, and route compliance in real time.
These innovations ensure that unsafe practices are detected and corrected immediately.
The company’s fleet management system has plans to further improve on the already existing telematics, GPS tracking and automated alerts, enabling supervisors to monitor driver discipline and intervene proactively when risks are identified.
At the 2025 Drivers’ Retreat in Obajana, the company reaffirmed the role of technology in strengthening accountability.
Drivers were trained in how digital monitoring tools enhance transparency and protect lives.
The retreat also emphasized the role of drivers as frontline ambassadors of the Dangote brand, tasked with projecting discipline, responsibility, and safety consciousness across Nigerian roads.
Beyond technology, Dangote Cement has prioritized community engagement and sustainability, ensuring that host communities benefit from safer roads, reduced accidents, and improved transport discipline.
The Obajana plant, which operates one of the largest truck fleets in Sub-Saharan Africa, has integrated driver retraining programmes to continuously refresh knowledge.
