NIGERIA is crippled by a litany of woes, and the nation’s sickness worsens daily. The root causes? Our political leaders, who prioritize power over progress. Politics has become a lucrative business, trumping development, humanity, and nationalism.

In Nigeria, politicians wield immense power, often above the law. They can secure offices without elections, embezzle public funds without consequence, and still win re-election despite displaying insensitivity and incompetence.

Until we address these systemic issues, Nigeria’s downward spiral will continue!

The streets are filled with the sounds and symbols of poverty, hunger, and pain. The once promising future is now shrouded in uncertainty, as corruption and ineptitude plague the system.

The people’s cries for help fall on deaf ears, as their leaders prioritize personal interests over the nation’s well-being. The Politicians go on holidays and vacations in foreign lands, while hunger, disease, terrorists and bandits decimate the People.

The fundamental purpose of governance is to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens. Yet, in Nigeria, the opposite seems to be the norm. Human life has lost its value under Nigeria’s poor governance induced challenges. The wanton destruction of lives and properties has become alarmingly commonplace. Life has been reduced to a disposable commodity, and the value of human existence is grossly undermined.

The truth is stark: insurgency is a symptom of deeper governance issues. The real death toll from politicians’ actions far exceeds the number of lives lost to insurgency. It’s time to hold leaders accountable for the lives lost due to their negligence and corruption.

The healthcare sector is a stark reflection of this crisis. Nigeria bears one of the highest burdens of maternal and infant mortality globally. The daily toll of preventable deaths among women and infants is a scathing indictment of the deep-seated inequities and systemic failures within the healthcare system.

These avoidable tragedies are a harsh reminder of the government’s failure to prioritize the well-being of its most vulnerable citizens.

Poverty is a more deadly threat than insecurity in Nigeria. The root cause? Mindless looting of the nation’s treasury by politicians and civil servants. With impunity reigning supreme, stealing public funds has become a norm.

Nigerians are desperate to access public funds, and the consequences are dire: alarming poverty rates, skyrocketing unemployment, and a harsh business environment.

This toxic cycle pushes people deeper into poverty, and ultimately, into violence and desperation. Even the National Security Adviser (NSA) acknowledges this harsh reality.

More Nigerians are killed by hunger, poor healthcare, crumbling infrastructure, and state brutality than by insurgency. Yet, political leaders and civil servants exploit the insurgency narrative to deflect attention from their own failures.

The truth is stark: insurgency is a symptom of deeper governance issues. The real death toll from politicians’ actions far exceeds the number of lives lost to insurgency. It’s time to hold leaders accountable for the lives lost due to their negligence and corruption.

Wake-up call: Nigeria’s survival depends on it! Our prolonged slumber is suffocating us. It’s time civil society and labour movements mobilize Nigerians, to rise up and reclaim our future from the talons of selfish leaders and corrupt civil servants.

While we sleep, they pretend to, but as Goodluck Jonathan aptly put it, “it’s hard to wake someone who pretends to sleep.” The suffering is palpable, the cries of citizens echo through the streets, and progress stalls. We must awaken and take charge of our destiny.

No one is immune to the suffering inflicted by our politicians. Whether you’re a party loyalist or a beneficiary of their palliatives, no one is safe from the consequences of their actions.

In Nigeria, politicians have no permanent friends, only temporary alliances. If we remain silent, we’ll all succumb to the same fate – hunger, poor healthcare, state brutality, economic hardship, and insecurity.

The harsh reality is: we’re all in this together. It’s time to wake up, stand up, and take control of our destiny before it’s too late.
