THE COUNCIL of Imams and Ulama of Kaduna State on Thursday called on federal and state governments for urgent intervention over growing cost of living and hardships among Nigerians.
The Chief Imam of Hayin Malam Bello Mosque, Sheikh Aminu Umdah, made the call at a news conference organised by the council in Kaduna.
Umdah said “We the Council of Imams and Ulama of Kaduna State are compelled to address the distressing situation of hardships and severe hunger our people are currently facing.
“We urge the state government to leverage its resources and influence to compel local government chairmen to actively participate in providing essential aid to the distressed masses.
He said collaboration at all levels of governance was imperative to ensure a comprehensive and timely response to the pressing challenges faced by the people of Kaduna state.

“The recent distribution of food items and financial aid by the Federal Government to members of federal parliaments and state governments has unfortunately left a significant portion of our beloved state grappling with unprecedented hardships.
“The cries of our people echo the need for immediate relief. We therefore in earnest, call on Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna and the parliament of the state to as a matter of urgency, provide succour to the distressed individuals through distribution of food items to the deserving individuals across Kaduna State.
According to him, the well-being of citizens should be a collective priority, and representatives at the state and National Assembly should take decisive actions to alleviate the sufferings of those in dire need in their constituencies. “We appeal to the Kaduna State residents to toe the path of peace while we await the government’s swift intervention,” Umdah said.
