THE Benue State House of Assembly has begun the screening of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commissioner-nominees for confirmation.
The House screened eight (8) nominees out of seventeen (17) in a committee of the whole during Thursday’s emergency sitting held at Government House, Makurdi, as the Assembly Complex is under renovation.

First to be screened was the commissioner-nominee from Guma LGA who is the current Assembly member representing Guma state constituency, Dr Yanmar Ortese. After a brief introduction of himself, the House asked Ortese to take a bow and resume his duties at the assembly until his swearing-in by the governor.

The 7 other nominees screened by the Assembly on Thursday were Hon. Mrs Joyce Luga from Gboko, Hon. Aondowase Kunde from Konshisha, Hon. Ann Itodo from Okpokwu, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange from Ushongo, Rt. Hon. Nick Eworo from Obi, Rev. Dr Fredrick Ikyaan from Gwer West, and Barr Fidelis Bemseen Mnyim from Makurdi local government.
The screening of the remaining commissioner nominees will continue on Friday August 11, 2023.
National Record had reported on Tuesday that the Benue State House of Assembly would commence the screening of commissioner nominees on Thursday, August 10.
