President Buhari will be conveying his decision to the public on whether the lockdown he had imposed to contain covid-19 will be relaxed or maintained.

The deceased’s uncle, Mr Eje Philip Agwu, told National Record in a telephone conversation that both husband and wife are being held at Lagos State CID, Alagbon for suspected murder. The couple, National Record learnt, had on Monday reported the death to the police as suicide by hanging.

This was revealed in a terse WhatsApp text by Comrade Max Conteh, the Acting General Secretary of SLLC, to an ITUC-Africa whatsApp platform stating that Comrade Wright had passed on some hours ago from an undisclosed illness.

“Our governors, it seems do not really appreciate the enormous responsibilities of their offices. What they understand is the enormous powers they have, many of which they tend to abuse. In the letter dated 14th April, 2020, but made available to National Record on Wednesday, Comrade Wabba intimated the SGF on three core focal areas of Labour-Civil Society Program of Action on Covid-19.

“Furthermore, CITAD has noticed with total disappointment how people are getting back to their normal lives in some areas of the state especially in the inner-city areas. This is something that should worry every right-thinking person, not only government, looking at how the number of positive cases in the state is increasing on a daily basis.”

“The inability of the state government to come out with comprehensive plan for palliatives cannot also be unconnected with the fact that as of now, nobody is in charge. In the same sense, the government is incapable of responding to the management of the news flow, including several pieces of fake news that it ought to respond to and clarify which have every potential of undermining the objectives of the lockdown.”

While Mallam Kyari’s reign may have been cut short by COVID-19, Buhari’s message is clear: he is looking for a frontline power operator who has the natural aptitude, the intellectual and emotional capacity or a very thick skin to carry out spoken and unspoken directives of Mr President, which literally means perfecting the art of reading his facial expressions.
