BENUE State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has blamed the Benue State House of Assembly over the concealment of the names of his commissioner-nominees which he had submitted through the Speaker on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
There has been an uproar across the state, especially from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that days after the constitutionally stipulated period for the submission of ministerial or commissioner-nominees had elapsed, the names on the list of Governor Alia’s proposed commissioners were still unknown.

Alia who spoke on Wednesday in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, said he forwarded the names to the Assembly before the expiration of 60 days as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution but he could not force the House to announce the names to Benue people and confirm the nominees.
“Perhaps the PDP needs some elementary tutorials [on] governance. We are practicing the Presidential System of government. Governor Alia (Executive) sent the list and it was not in his powers to compel the Assembly (Legislature) to start work on the list immediately”, Kula had defended his boss in a statement posted on his Facebook wall.
National Record had reported on Tuesday that Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Benue State House of Assembly were yet to unveil names of commissioner-nominees after 60 days statutory deadline.
