THE ELECTION of the Benue State University Alumni Association (BSUAA) scheduled by a faction of the association to hold on May 4, 2024 at Police Officers Mess, Makurdi has been postponed indefinitely.

The election schedule, which the Prof. Qrisstuberg Amua-led interim exco faction vehemently resisted, was reportedly postponed as a result of a subsisting court order.

Secretary of the Amua-led interim national exco, Edward Agena, Esq., who spoke with our correspondent on phone after a meeting at the instance of the Benue State deputy governor, Sam Ode, with representatives of the two factions in attendance, said the parties were directed to wait until the subsisting court order that stopped the elections is vacated.

According to Agena, the deputy governor also directed the two factions to reconcile and harmonise in order to conduct a single election for the association.

“The deputy governor said based on the consultation and advice of the attorney general of the state, since there is a subsisting court injunction, elections cannot hold until that injunction is either set aside or vacated”, Agena told our correspondent.
