THE BENUE State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) on Sunday at its headquarters in Makurdi, presented certificates of return to chairmen-elect following last Saturday’s local government polls.
It was a clean sweep for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as all chairmanship and coucillorship seats in the 23 local government areas and wards were won by the party’s candidates.
Some of them who spoke to journalists after they received their certificates of return made various promises to their people, promising to execute key projects.
According to the chairman-elect of Makurdi LGA, Hon. Joseph Keffi, his focus will be on infrastructure. “First, I want to look at infrastructure. That’s the first thing because I understand the challenge of my people.”
His counterpart, Hon. Maxwell Ogiri, chairman-elect for Otukpo LGA, promised to unite his people to pave the way for peace and development in the area. “We will make sure we maintain peace and unity for development to thrive,” Ogiri promised.
