THE Benue State Police Command has arrested one Ephraim Ternenge Iortyer from Logo LGA of Benue State for allegedly attempting to facilitate Fulani herdsmen attack on a community in Anyiin in Logo LGA.

Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, in a statement on Tuesday said the suspect was seen along Taraba-Benue boundary wandering “in a suspicious manner” on April 22, 2023 and was arrested for investigation.
During the investigation, the suspect confessed to have gone to the forest to liaise with criminal herders to pay him so that he could facilitate the kidnapping and killing of his people.
Ephraim, who hails from Tse-Iortyer, Kemberagya/Tswarev Council ward of Logo LGA, allegedly told the police that he had asked some herders to give him N300,000 as payment for him to aid them in carrying out attacks.
“They said they will buy a cutlass and a phone for me. That’s what I will be using to do operation,” the suspect allegedly confessed to the police.
The police said the suspect claimed to be alone in the business and that it was his first time of meeting with the Fulanis for that purpose.
Meanwhile, the PPRO, SP Sewuese Anene said “further investigation into the matter was ongoing to reveal more information about the suspect’s involvement in recent attack and possible arrest of other suspects involved in carrying out such heinous crimes.”
