THE transition committees set up by the outgoing Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, and that of the governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on Thursday held a joint inaugural meeting at Government House, Makurdi.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the closed-door meeting, chairman of Governor Ortom’s Transition Committee and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Tony Ijohor, said they agreed on the inauguration of the joint committee and they set a timetable on how the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are going to brief the incoming administration to know the workings of government and what is going to be inherited.

Prof. Ijohor said the meeting went on smoothly and they will continue to update the Benue public through the media about every decision taken by the joint committee.
“The atmosphere was cordial. We shall be briefing the press from time to time on what we have done”, Prof Ijohor said.
On his part, Mr Mike Iordye, the chairman of Fr Alia’s Transition Committee, expressed satisfaction with the composition of the joint committee and outcome of the inaugural meeting.
