THE MANAGING Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mrs Maureen Allagoa, says the fund is committed to actualising President Bola Tinubu’s social investment agenda.

Allagoa said at a workshop in Abuja on Thursday that NSITF remained committed to the realisation of the president’s agenda on health, education and agriculture.

The theme of the workshop is: “The role of the NSITF and the delivery task team in actualising the government’s eight priority areas under the Ministry of Labour and Employment”

She said that the fund had launched an initiative to improve the lives of Nigerians through enhanced human and capital development.

“NSITF is the leading social security institution in Africa with not less than 60 years of experience in the social security sector.

“We are well positioned to lead the actualisation of this agenda through an enhanced human and capital development strategy,” she said.

The managing director said that the agency had begun a strategic drive into the informal sector with a view to providing social security services for the employees.

“This is through our close collaboration with small and medium enterprises, using their various associations and bodies,” she said.

She said that the strategy would be extended to small and medium scale enterprise associations in the agriculture sector

“The essence is to improve productivity. It will also boost food production and enhance food security,” she said.

Earlier, Prof. Gabriel Okenwa, NSITF’s Executive Director, Administration, emphasised the importance of policy coordination to the achievement of organisational goals

“Policy coordination is vital to the success of any organisation. It ensures that our activities are aligned with the vision,” he said.

Okenwa urged the participants to make use of the knowledge gained during the workshop in implementing tasks given to them by the organisation. (NAN)
