THE NIGERIA Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has dismissed allegations of managerial crisis and mass resignation, describing the claims as misleading and lacking factual basis.
This is contained in a statement signed by Ms Alexandra Mede, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Fund, on Friday in Abuja.
Mede noted that the allegations were based on a publication and subsequent claims by some civil society organisations, which the Fund considered inaccurate and misleading.
She said the Fund’s management categorically rejected the allegations, describing both the publication and demands arising from it as lacking merit and founded on misrepresentation of facts.
“The Management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund wishes to categorically reject the allegations recently circulated by a coalition of civil society organisations.
“The allegations rely on a publication dated June 4, 2026, as their primary basis. The publication and demands arising from it are without merit,” the Fund’s spokesperson said.
According to her, there has not been mass resignation within the organisation and no managerial crisis as portrayed by the reports and statements.
She explained that what occurred was a structured Voluntary Retirement Exercise (VRE) advertised on March 3, 2026, for confirmed staff within designated senior management cadres.
“The VRE was a deliberate institutional reform initiative informed by recommendations from an independent staff audit conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“It offered participating staff voluntary exits with full financial benefits attached, while all processes complied with relevant labour laws and Public Service Rules.”
She added that the exercise was later extended following approval by the Management Board at its 83rd meeting held on April 28, 2026.
The Fund’s spokesperson said every exit recorded under the exercise was voluntary, incentivised and processed according to approved guidelines, contrary to claims of intimidation and forced resignations.
“To characterise this structured and transparent exercise as hundreds of staff resigning amid intimidation is factually incorrect and constitutes irresponsible journalism,” she said.
According to her, the management expressed concern that civil society groups have amplified what it described as unsubstantiated allegations against a Federal Government’s institution.
Mede said the Fund maintained established channels for staff grievances through its Human Resource Management Department and had not received substantiated complaints of victimisation.
On allegations of financial misconduct, she said claims relating to multiple bank accounts and a purported N297 billion scandal remained unproven and under investigation.
The Fund’s spokesperson said the management remained accountable under statutory oversight frameworks and welcomed any lawful and evidence-based inquiry into the operations of the organisation.
She noted that calls for the removal of the Managing Director and Board Chairman of the Fund were not supported by established facts or verifiable evidence.
According to her, under the leadership of Mr Oluwaseun Faleye, the Fund has recorded measurable improvements in service delivery, coverage expansion and operational efficiency.
She urged the public and relevant authorities to evaluate the allegations objectively and rely on available evidence before drawing conclusions on the matter.
She reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the welfare of Nigerian workers, while calling for factual accuracy in public discourse. (NAN)
