COMRADE Prince Peters A. Adeyemi, the General Secretary of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), has been re-elected to two key international leadership roles within Public Services International (PSI), a global federation of trade unions.
The re-election took place last Friday, November 14, 2025, during the 14th PSI Regional Conference for Africa and Arab Countries (AFRECON) in Accra, Ghana.
The conference, which held under the theme: “Quality Public Services for Dignity,” was declared open by the President of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama.
The high-profile gathering attracted over 400 union leaders and delegates from 82 unions across 34 African and Arab nations.
Also in attendance were the PSI Global President, Britta Lejon, and the PSI General Secretary, Daniel Bertossa, alongside other invited guests from around the world.
Following the proceedings, Comrade Adeyemi was successfully returned to office for a further five-year term. He will continue to serve concurrently as the PSI President for the Africa and Arab Countries Region and as a Global Vice President.
In his renewed mandate, Adeyemi is expected to continue collaborating with union leaders across the region and the PSI Head Office on a range of critical issues. His key priorities will include defending the rights of workers, campaigning against the privatisation of public services, and advocating for tax justice and climate change action.
A significant focus of his agenda will also be to push governments across Africa and the Arab region to ratify the International Labour Organisation’s Convention No. 190 (C190). This landmark convention recognises the fundamental right of every individual to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence.
This re-election affirms Prince Adeyemi’s influential role on the global labour stage and underscores the continued confidence of the international trade union movement in his leadership.
