ALL Nations Evangelism Ministries, Makurdi has called on the federal government of Nigeria to consider the interest of millions of Nigerians who reside in semi urban and rural areas in the implementation of the naira redesigning policy.
This was part of the resolutions contained in a communiqué issued at the third quarter Synod for the year 2022 of the All Nations Evangelism Ministries convened on the 6th day of the international convention held at IBB Square Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The communiqué read by the Synod chairman, Archbishop Yimam Orkwar, indicated that the Church welcomed the CBN’s policy of resigning the naira but was concerned about rural people who may have challenge with money transfer as a result of poor mobile network, making it difficult for them to cope in the cashless society.
“Synod welcomes the CBN policy of redesigning the naira and calls on the CBN leadership to consider interest of the generality of the people in the implementation of economic policies formulated by the Apex bank”, the communique read in part.
The Synod also condemned the burning down of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) facilities across Nigeria and tasked security agencies to intensify surveillance at INEC offices and facilities so that the forthcoming 2023 general elections will not be truncated by few unpatriotic and lawless individuals.
Worried by the security challenges in Nigeria, the Synod among other critical issues, stressed the need for the leadership of Nigeria and security operatives to renew their commitment towards eliminating the activities of cultists, kidnappers, bandits, terrorists and others.
Fielding questions from newsmen on the issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket which was not captured in the communique, Bishop Yiman Orkwar reiterated that the All Nations Evangelism Ministries’ Synod was against the arrangement, describing it as totally unacceptable.
“It’s totally unacceptable to us as a people because that’s the product of exclusivity, they are excluding us from political process in Nigeria”.
It’s not just about Muslim-Muslim ticket, but as a people, if we want peace in this country, we must adhere to principles that will bring unity to this country”, he added.
According to Orkwar, Nigeria is made up of the North and the South and it’s not proper for another Fulani man from the North to emerge as president after 8 years that a Muslim Norther occupied the position.
