BENUE State representatives; Government Secondary School (GSS), Gboko clinched 3rd position in the just concluded zonal quiz competition on Legislature and Democracy for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
The FCT came first, while Plateau State came second in the zonal quiz competition which featured two students each from the 6 states of the North Central and the FCT.
The event was held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the national headquarters of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Airport Road, Abuja.

Speaking on the performance, the students’ coach, Mr. Charles Mngerem, expressed joy that the state representatives gave a good account of themselves, adding that in every contest, there must be a winner.
He thanked God for the result, saying it is a worthwhile outing as according to him, they were not coming back empty handed like other states who were even crying for losing out.
The participating students of the school, Isaac Sule and Joseph Tyona, who represented Benue as state champions, in an interview with newsmen expressed mixed feelings, saying they were aiming at winning the grand prize but have ended up as 2nd runners-up at the zonal level and were therfore not satisfied.
They were however consoled by the fact that they are at least not going back empty-handed, adding that they appreciate God for the feat, especially considering the fact that they are science students, yet are able to attain such height in the competition.

The duo had earlier at the state qualifiers held at Government Girls College, Makurdi on October 12, 2023 promised to make Benue proud at the zonal competition.
National Record had reported on November 3 that GSS, Gboko was to represent Benue State at the NILDS quiz competition.
