THE BENUE State Government has remained quiet while two persons have declared themselves security advisers at a recent public function to resolve a lingering communal crisis in the state.

This situation remains the first of its kind in the history of the state.

Although the Benue State House of Assembly had on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 given the state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, a 3-day ultimatum to appoint a security adviser to tackle security challenges bedeviling the state, the governor seemingly ignored the ultimatum which lapsed on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Since the end of the ultimatum, the government has not made any announcement on the appointment of a security adviser.

However, on Friday, November 3, 2023, at a press briefing following a closed door meeting with stakeholders from Mbaivur and Mbasombo in his office, Chief Joseph Har introduced himself to journalists as Adviser to the Governor on Security and Internal Affairs.

Har also introduced Lt. Col. Alex Igbaya Ashungu (Rtd) as Adviser to the Governor on Security and Strategic Liaison.

Har neither disclose when he and his colleague were appointed nor the medium through which their appointments were announced by Governor Alia.
