IN A DEMONSTRATION of communal pride and solidarity, a high-powered delegation from the Edumoga Che Nche socio-cultural group has paid a courtesy visit to Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Odo JP, congratulating him on his recent appointment as the Acting Clerk of the Senate.

The visit, which took place on Saturday at Chief Odo’s residence in Abuja, follows the official announcement of his appointment by the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), a development that was met with widespread jubilation in his Edumoga homeland in Okpokwu LGA of Benue State; the Group’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Isaac Eganta, told National Record on Sunday.

Chief Odo shakes hands with Amb. Ola during the visit.

The PRO said the delegation, led by the group’s President, Amb. Stephen Ejembi Ola (KSM), included other prominent figures such as the group’s Facilitator, Dr Christy Ekoja, Elder Joseph Ohene, Mr. Ameh Achanya, and Dr. Emmanuel Udeh.

The visit is believed to symbolise Edumoga community’s view of Chief Odoh’s elevation as a significant milestone for the entire Edumoga people. This sentiment was initially expressed in a congratulatory statement by the group as reported by National Record on September 19.

In the statement, the Forum described the appointment as a “beacon of collective progress” and a “most deserving recognition” of Chief Odoh’s “unparalleled diligence, exceptional administrative competence, and unwavering dedication.”

During the courtesy visit, Amb. Ola, reiterating the community’s stance, offered prayers on behalf of the Edumoga people. He prayed for divine wisdom, courage, and robust health for Chief Odoh to enable him to deliver effectively on the demands of his new office. He also assured the new Clerk of the community’s unwavering support and prayers at all times.

In his response, Chief Odoh welcomed the delegation and commended them for the thoughtful visit. He seized the moment to reflect on the state of the community, recounting past efforts to foster unity and peaceful coexistence for development, which he noted had not yielded the desired success.

Looking forward, Chief Odoh issued a call for unity, advising that he would like to see a more cohesive Edumoga community that can take its rightful place in Benue State and Nigeria at large.

He urged all sons and daughters of Edumoga to join hands with the Edumoga Che Nche group to build a more functional and result-oriented community.

Chief Odoh’s appointment has been widely seen not only as a personal triumph but also as an inspiration to the youth of Edumoga, Idoma land, and Benue State, signalling that diligence and dedication can lead to the highest echelons of national service.
