THE FEDERAL Workers Forum (FWF) has declared its full support for the planned mass action by the Abuja Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to shut down the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) if the government fails to implement the new minimum wage for striking workers.
In a statement issued on Friday, signed by Comrade Andrew Emelieze, National Coordinator, Comrade Itoro Obong, National Secretary, and Comrade Razaq Yakubu Oseni, Publicity Secretary, the FWF urged the NLC to follow through on its ultimatum, warning against another “empty threat.”
The group expressed frustration over the FCT Minister’s unfulfilled promises to resolve the wage dispute, stating that workers have endured enough hardship and must now fight for their survival.
The Forum commended the courage of the striking FCT workers and called on all federal public sector unions to take decisive action to protect their members’ interests.
It also warned that federal workers would join the protest in solidarity if the government continues delaying the minimum wage implementation.
The FWF appealed for public understanding and broader endorsement of the protest from the labour movement and civil society.
