THE NIGERIA Movement Of Solidarity With Cuba on Thursday asserted that Cuba is not and has never been a terrorist country as has been branded by the United States of America (USA) over the years.

The Solidarity Movement has therefore called on the USA to “remove Cuba from the despicable list” of terrorist countries “now and forever!”

In a statement on Thursday, signed by Comrade Abiodun Aremu, on behalf of the Nigeria Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the movement stated that “Cuba is not and never a terrorist country,” noting that it is a fact that “the US authority itself knows.”

According to the Movement, Cuba and its people have the fundamental rights to decide their political system without interference, which the “US Authority must recognise and respect.”

“We have the cause to say it and repeat it THAT CUBA IS NOT & NEVER a terrorist country, a fact the US authority itself knows.

“CUBA stands for Socialism, which the country has defended consistently for over 66-years of its revolutionary triumph! And it is with same the truth and values of Socialism that Cuba defended and liberated the Southern African countries of South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia.

“It is with the same truth of Socialism that Cuba excelled in Humanitarian duties, when, the country, despite the glaring existential dangers to the world that Cuba sent its doctors to almost 60 nations across the world!”, the Movement Of Solidarity With Cuba stated, amongst other things.

The full statement reads:

NIGERIA MOVEMENT OF SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA

MAY 30th 2024

THE US AUTHORITY MUST REMOVE CUBA FROM ITS DESPICABLE LIST OF NATIONS SPONSORING TERRORISM!

•           CUBA IS NOT AND CAN NEVER BE A TERRORIST COUNTRY, ITS UNASSAILABLE RECORD IN GLOBAL AFFAIRS, DESPITE THE OVER 60-YEARS OF THE CRIMINAL BLOCKADE AND WICKED SANCTIONS IMPOSED BY THE US ESTABLISHMENT ON IT, ATTESTS TO ITS STATUS AS THE HEARTBEAT OF HUMANITY!

STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIA MOVEMENT OF SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA

1. Nigeria’s official relationship with CUBA started in 1974 with diplomatic status and relations established between Nigeria and Cuba. But the black population in Cuba and Nigerians have anthropological and cultural relationship that have existed for centuries. In fact, the relationship is historical and a necessity! The predominant black population in Cuba are descendants of the African origins who were dehumanized, cargoed across the Atlantic Ocean and enslaved for capitalist exploitation and subjected to extreme dehumanization for close to 500-years of slavery and colonialism! And today in Cuba exists Cubans from the origins of the ethnic groups in Nigeria that include the Yoruba, Hausa, Urhobo, Egun, Ibibio, Efik, Itsekiri, and other ethnic groups from African origins.

2. Let the US authority and its imperial allies know and understand that as the Nigerian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, our identification with the Cuban revolution and the Cuban people is historical and necessary! And as the Nigerian Movement, we have been a major participant and signatory to the Declarations and Resolutions of the African Meetings and Conferences that held since 2010 in Angola, Ethiopia, Namibia, Nigeria and South Africa. In fact, as the Nigerian Movement, we hosted the 6th African Meeting successfully, and that despite the Nigerian Government was officially invited and encouraged to attend, and the Government denied itself but some Nigerian patriots in Government and outside of it, massively attended the conference with an attendance close to 400 participants!

3. As a Movement, we believe and recognise that the Cuban people have the fundamental rights to decide their political system without interference. Therefore, the US Authority must recognise and respect such rights.

4. We have the cause to say it and repeat it THAT CUBA IS NOT & NEVER a terrorist country, a fact the US authority itself knows.  CUBA stands for Socialism, which the country has defended consistently for over 66-years of its revolutionary triumph! And it is with same the truth and values of Socialism that Cuba defended and liberated the Southern African countries of South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia. It is with the same truth of Socialism that Cuba excelled in Humanitarian duties, when, the country, despite the glaring existential dangers to the world that Cuba sent its doctors to almost 60 nations across the world!

5. It is high time to call on the conscientious population all over the world, including the citizens of the US and governments with laudable programes and policies for their populations, to speak out, petitions and take steps to call the US to order. It is no longer content for the rest of the world to allow the US Authority to hold the world to ransome because of its obsession for exploitation and criminal atrocities!

6. The fact and the current realty remains that, it is the US establishment that has framed Cuba all the time, including its devilish arrest and trials of the Cuban FIVE (patriots) and their imprisonment for treason, the grooming of US citizens and Cuban dissidents in Florida-USA  for terrorist and counter revolutionary sabotage and invasion of Cuba! It is the same policy of hostility, insanity and hypocrisy to Cuba that compelled the Bay of Pigs invasion by the US administration of President Kennedy that woefully failed in the over 600 assassination plots to kill Commandante Fidel Castro, including other numerous attacks and sabotage such as the blowing off of a Cuban Airline. These are just few of the US Establishment atrocious CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!

7. Even as recently as May 15, 2024, when the US Secretary of State presented its 2023 report of non-compliance to anti-terrorist efforts to the US Congress, the report did not find Cuba wanting! How come if not cheap character assassination for the US to keep Cuba in its so-called list of infamy and terrorist countries! REMOVE CUBA FROM THE DESPICABLE LIST NOW AND FORVER!

Ever Onward to the Cuban People!

Long Live the Cuban President Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the Government of Cuba!

Ever Lasting Victory to the Cuban Revolution!

Solidarity regards!
