A COALITION of Kunav groups from Vandeikya LGA of Benue State has expressed its unflinching support for the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, citing the governor’s transformative progress in various sectors.
Briefing journalists Tuesday at the Benue State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Makurdi, chairman of Club De 8, Dr Peter Anule, highlighted Alia’s achievements and warned fellow kinsmen of the Kunav extraction who might be aggrieved in one way or the other to sheathe their swords and support their brother.
“We stand united in our commitment to support his administration as it builds a brighter, more prosperous future. Governor Alia’s administration has made significant strides in key areas, including timely payment of salaries and pensions, infrastructure development, solar street lighting, public transportation, support for agriculture and industrialisation, education, state security efforts, and support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs),” the group stated.
The group, however, condemned recent security breaches in Kwande, Gwer, Konshisha, and Oju LGAs, as well as the abduction of the President General of the Kunav Development Association (KUDA).

It commended the security agencies for securing his release and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that such acts of violence do not disrupt the progress made.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Benue State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bemdoo Ugber, has cautioned against holding press conferences in hotels and other places outside NUJ house, warning that media organisations that do so will be sanctioned.
“NUJ is back now, and I want to announce that anybody or group that wants to hold a press conference should come to the NUJ secretariat. The union in Benue has recovered from its leadership crisis, and it is unified and stronger,” Ugber said.
