Catholic Priest, Fr. Alia, Floors Benue Speaker to Emerge Benue Governor-Elect

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared APC’s Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia as the winner of Benue gubernatorial election conducted on March 18, 2023.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, who is the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna said Fr. Alia polled 473,933 to floor PDP’s Titus Uba who scored 223,913 with 250,020 margin.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State, Prof. Sam Egwu, said the declaration of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as winner of the poll was inline with the commission’s law that the margin of lead secured by the winner was more than the number of registered voters with PVC in Kwande LGA where the postponed election is to be conducted on Tuesday, March 21,2023.

Responding to his victory at his Makurdi residence, the Governor-elect, Fr. Alia, prayed God to give him the wisdom to pilot the affairs of Benue State effectively and satisfactorily.
