THE JOS Electricity Distribution Company (JED) Plc, Makurdi region, has attributed the ongoing load shedding and erratic power supply in Makurdi metropolis and surrounding communities to insufficient load allocation from the national grid.
In a statement, Regional Manager, Ochojide Mathew Agbata, explained that the company is working to restore full power supply to all feeders as soon as the national allocation improves. He apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers and appealed for patience.
JED reassured consumers of its commitment to providing efficient services, emphasising its mandate to ensure sustained power supply.
However, the persistent power challenges have severely impacted Benue economy with business owners who rely solely on electricity incurring significant losses.
Speaking with our correspondent, Ifeanyi Okafor, who owns a barber’s shop and also sells cold drinks in North Bank, stressed the need for urgent attention to Benue’s energy infrastructure, asserting that improving national allocation and investing in local power generation solutions are critical to revitalizing the state’s economy.
He added that, as JED works to address the power supply issues, stakeholders must prioritize sustainable solutions to break the cycle of epileptic power supply crippling Benue’s economic potential.
