THE BENUE State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, has said that she lost three of her cousins on Sunday during an attack launched by suspected herdsmen on her village, Tse-Gamber, Sengev in Gwer West LGA of Benue State
SP Anene made this known when she confirmed the attack to newsmen in a WhatsApp chat on Sunday.
Although a reliable source in Gwer West told our correspondent that a total of seven persons were killed in two different attacks by alleged herdsmen numbering about 10 on the same day within the local government, the PPRO said it was 3 persons only.
“That is my village. Three of my cousin’s [sic] were killed. That is the total number,” Anene said.
Our source however said four persons were killed in Tse-Gamber in the early hours of Sunday while three persons were killed and many others injured in Camp, Nagi, Mbachohon Council wards, a settlement along Naka-Agagbe Road.
The dead bodies were yet to be recovered for fear of another attack according to sources from the area.
