THE CARETAKER chairman of Ukum local government council, Hon. Haanongon Gideon, has allegedly been kidnapped alongside his personal assistant on administration, Ior Silas Yuhwam, police orderly and driver.
According to a statement released by the council secretary, Jonathan Modi, on Saturday, the incident took place along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala LGA, of Benue State around 6:30am while the victims were on their way to attend the burial of a paramount ruler in Katsina-Ala LGA, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo, the Ter Katsina-Ala.
When contacted for confirmation of the incident, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, said she was not aware of the alleged abduction.
“I have not been briefed on this incident please,” SP Anene replied journalists on WhatsApp.
