THE NIGERIAN Army has commissioned the remodeled Sappers Guest House and other projects at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering (NASME), Makurdi, Benue State.

Performing the ceremony on Friday, the commander, Corps of Engineers, Major General P. E. Eromosele, who was special guest at the occasion, said although the Sappers Guest House was constructed to provide a befitting accommodation and place of abode for visiting sapper officers and guests within the NASME community, it did not serve its purpose over the years because it was in a state of disrepair and abandonment hence his decision to resuscitate it.

Major General PE Eromosele commissioning the Sappers Guest House.

“This necessitated my drive to ensure the facility is remodeled and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to fulfill its purpose.

“Therefore, let me appreciate the Commandant of NASME for inviting me to commission the remodeled Sappers Guest House,” Eromosele said.

The scope of work for the remodeled guest house, according to the commander, include redesigning the rooms and toilet facilities, construction of a mini swimming pool, guard house and fencing, landscaping and rotunda as well as complete furnishing of the guest house, amongst others.

Apart from the guest house, other projects commissioned on Friday by Major General Eromosele at NASME include road network in the barracks, renovated senior non-commissioned officers quarters and renovated non-commissioned officers block.

Eromosele, who charged the officers to put the facilities into optimal use with a high level of maintenance, reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps is repositioned to perform her responsibilities.

“I will continue to prioritise developmental projects in the corps as well as capacity building of our personnel. Equally, the corps under my watch will continue to reward hard work and would not be shy to adequately sanction defaulters.

“These numerous developmental projects in NASME are not only timely but will further showcase the corps in good light as we prepare to host the Combat Support Arms Training (COSAT) week 2024 from 3-4 June 2024”, Eromosele said as he tasked officers on the maintenance of the projects he commissioned.

In his remarks, the Commandant, NASME, Major General A. G. Audu, appreciated the commander of Corps Engineers for providing for the welfare of officers, assuring that the facilities will be properly maintained and used optimally.
