THE Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on Monday inaugurated visitation panels to colleges of education and polytechnics in the state with a mandate to audit the activities of the institutions’ managements between 2016 to date.
The five institutions include Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, College of Education, Katsina-Ala and College of Education, Oju.
Inaugurating the panels at Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, said the terms of reference of the panels include review of the financial management of the colleges of education and polytechnics during the period under review, investigate the application of funds allocated for specific projects, appraise the internally generated revenue, scrutinise students enrolment, assess the condition of physical infrastructure and instructional facilities, assess staffing and staff development programs as well as evaluate relationships between management and stakeholders.
“Our schools deserve functional facilities and conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning. All these highlight the need for the inauguration of these panels,” Alia stressed.
The membership of the visitation panel to the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo is made up of the following: Prof. John Enyi – Chairman; Arc. Members of the panels are to collect their letters from the office of the Secretary to the State Government on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The Benue State Government had earlier on August 3, 2023, inaugurated a similar visitation panel to the Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi with the same terms of reference.
