THE DEPARTMENT of Chemical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is set to commemorate its 55th anniversary with a grand event featuring a keynote lecture by Professor Oyebanji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, Senior Special Adviser to the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The celebration, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Design Studio Auditorium, African Centre of Excellence, OAU, will include a book launch and the unveiling of a five-billion-naira (N5 billion) endowment fund.
In a statement released by the department, Prof. Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, a renowned scholar and development expert, will deliver the keynote address titled: “Rebuilding the Broken Walls”. His lecture is expected to provide valuable insights into the future of chemical engineering and its role in sustainable development.
The event will be graced by His Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, who will serve as the royal father of the day.
The anniversary celebration will also bring together distinguished personalities, industry leaders, alumni, and members of the university community to reflect on the department’s 55 years of impactful existence.
