MAJOR dealers in essential commodities of Dangote Group of Companies say the company has always maintained a policy of non-increase in the prices of its commodities in any part of the country during Ramadan.

One of the dealers, Alhaji Salisu Sambajo, while speaking to journalists at his office at the Singer Market in Kano on Monday, noted that the company sells a bag of sugar to major dealers at the rate of N18,500 and refunds N250 per bag to the dealers.

“I am among the major dealers of Dangote products in Nigeria. To the best of my knowledge, there was no time Dangote Company increased the price of its commodities during fasting period.

“Sometimes, retailers who bought sugar from major dealers jacked up the price when they arrived at their destinations.

“What Dangote has done to us at this Singer Market, it’s only God that can reward him abundantly. Years back, Dangote used to give us commodities to sell without collateral, until after we’d sold the commodities, then we pay back and take the profit.”

Also speaking, another major dealer of Dangote products, Alhaji Sabo Dankoli, corroborated Alhaji Sambajo’s claims that they have never experienced a hike in price from Dangote Group during Ramadan.

“There are a lot of commodities on the ground this year; am assuring the general populace that this year, we are not expecting any hike in sugar and other commodities, just like last year. Even that of last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused lockdown, Dangote companies did not hike the prices of their products,” Alhaji Dankoli said.

Commending the Dangote Group on efforts to ensure that there is no price increase of essential commodities during the fasting period, Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission, Barr Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, lauded the company for flooding the market with goods.

“I was informed that the company has flooded the market with commodities that can last till after the Ramadan period and not only in Kano but also across the northern states,” Muhuyi Rimingado said, adding that “that was why we appreciated the company with a letter of commendation last week. I hope the company will sustain the initiative even after the holy month of Ramadan.”

Shedding light on the activities of Dangote Group of Companies on efforts to guarantee stable prices of commodities during Ramadan, a senior official of Dangote Group, Alhaji Garba Ibrahim El-Suleiman, said the company has flooded all the markets across the country with commodities whereby no dealer would be able to skyrocket the price of any product.
