New Minimum Wage: Benue Govt To Set Up Committee To Review Salary Structure

BENUE State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced that his administration will set up a committee to review the salary structure of civil servants in the state in line with the new national minimum wage law recently enacted by the National Assembly and signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Alia disclosed this on Saturday during a dinner at Government House, Makurdi when he assured Benue workers of more incentives to enhance their productivity.

The governor further disclosed that he has already secured funds for the payment of salaries for the next one year, promising to sustain good governance to achieve the desired new Benue in line with the vision of the founding fathers.

Speaking earlier in the day at his 34^th priestly ordination anniversary celebration held at IBB Square, Makurdi, the governor dedicated all the accolades he received for good governance to the church that trained him.

“If you understand the mainstay of the church, the church supports social justice. So, when people are trying to over praise me for all I do as good governance, I say thank the Church. It is through the training, through the discipline and through the social teachings of the Church.

“The church emphasises good governance and responsibility to humanity and this is what I have brought to the table to bear.

“So, while I give thanks to God and the good people of the state, I thank the Church for training me and it is my resolve to continue to do what promotes the Church, what promotes God,” Alia told journalists shortly after the occasion.
