BANDITS who kidnapped twenty medical students of the University of Jos and University of Maiduguri have reportedly threatened to commence killing their victims if relations of the abducted students fail to quickly pay the ransom that had been demanded.

National Record gathered that the bandits made the ransom demand of fifty million naira on Sunday via the Facebook account of one of the abducted students.

The ransom demand came a day after the state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia had directed security agencies in the state to intensify efforts and ensure the safe release of the victims.

The governor, who gave the directive in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula, on Saturday warned criminal elements operating within the state to find another base, assuring that his administration would not rest on its oars to stamp out all forms of criminality in the state.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) also reportedly deployed a team of security personnel to Benue to support the effort to release the students.
