“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.
And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and Kings to the brightness of thy rising”- Isaiah 60:1-3
WELCOME to the Month of August, 2024 with our Focus titled “Light has come”.
I decree and declare that in this Month, the glory of the Lord shall be risen upon you; and you shall triumph over all the forces of darkness and gloominess. The Gentiles (Unbelievers) and Kings shall come to thy light and the brightness of thy rising, in Jesus Name.
What does it mean to say light has come?
This means:
* The announcement of a new beginning, a new phase or a new dawn.
* A turning point in the life of an individual, a family or a nation.
* Deliverance from every form of corruption and darkness.
* The triumph of light over darkness and evil.
Introduction
Arise, shine for your light has come is a clarion call for us as believers to exhibit and manifest the true love of Christ in us, to the World that is full of darkness and hopelessness.
The book of Matthew 5:14-16 corroborates this call. “You are the light of the World. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”
Jesus tells us clearly here that “you are the light of the World”, not just a tiny light placed in the window at night, but God wants to put our lives as believers at the topmost top in life – Global perspective in view. He wants the whole World to see His Love, Mercy, Grace, Kindness, Long suffering, Forgiveness and Goodness reflecting through us, which means, let our lives so shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father which is in heaven.
God desires His people to live in such brilliance/glory, that it attracts others to His love and compassion. To be a light in darkness means darkness must be driven out of us by our Saviour. It happens when He becomes our Lord. The Lordship of Christ in our lives impacts our attributes and motivations. It changes the motives behind each action we carry out in life. It kills our pride and give way to surrender to the selfless love of Jesus.
The authority and power of Christ is infused in our weakness to show the World His great love for us.
Though, darkness will cover the earth and thick darkness over the people, but the Lord will rise upon you in His glory, nations will come to your light, and Kings to the brightness of your rising.
However, we must allow the Holy Spirit to clean our heart and remove all the darkness. It is easy to change our habits and modify our behavior according to the law of God, yet, there are many who do not allow the light of His love to fully penetrate their hearts.
