PRESIDENT and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has unveiled new initiatives aimed at broadening participation in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited Initial Public Offering (IPO), with plans to make share subscriptions more accessible to millions of Nigerians while supporting up to two million vulnerable women to become shareholders.
As part of efforts to deepen retail participation and build one of Africa’s broadest shareholder bases, the refinery has introduced a new subscription channel through participating Moniepoint Point-of-Sale (POS) agents nationwide.
The initiative enables prospective investors, particularly those in underserved communities where agency banking serves as a primary access point for financial services, to subscribe to the IPO through approved Moniepoint agents.
The move significantly expands access to the public offer, which is priced at N525 per share, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares valued at N5,250. Investors are also allowed to subscribe multiple times during the offer period, enabling them to gradually increase their holdings.
According to the company, leveraging Moniepoint’s extensive agency network is part of a deliberate strategy to democratise investment opportunities and ensure that ordinary Nigerians can participate in the ownership of one of Africa’s most strategic industrial assets.
“One of the key objectives of this public offer is to broaden participation and make share ownership accessible to ordinary Nigerians. By leveraging the extensive Moniepoint agent network, we are bringing the opportunity to invest in the Dangote Refinery closer to the people, wherever they may be,” the company stated.
In a related development, Dangote announced in New York during the 81st United Nations General Assembly that the Aliko Dangote Foundation would partner with state governments to support vulnerable women, including widows and victims of conflict, to participate in the refinery’s IPO.
The initiative is expected to reach up to two million women nationwide, making it one of the largest financial inclusion and women’s empowerment programmes linked to Nigeria’s capital market.
Under the arrangement, participating women will receive additional support from the Foundation through the donation of extra shares to complement their investments and help them build long-term financial assets.
“We are partnering with state governments to ensure that widows and other vulnerable women are able to buy shares in the refinery,” Dangote said. “Beyond enabling them to buy shares, the Foundation will also support them by donating additional shares that they can hold as savings for the future.”
The programme is expected to have particular significance for conflict-affected communities, where many households continue to face economic challenges, by providing pathways to sustainable wealth creation through equity ownership.
Together, the introduction of the Moniepoint subscription channel and the planned support for vulnerable women reinforce the broader objectives of the Dangote Refinery “People’s IPO,” which seeks to expand financial inclusion, democratise ownership and enable millions of Nigerians to participate directly in one of the country’s largest industrial investments.
Prospective investors are advised to review the IPO Prospectus and seek guidance from licensed stockbrokers or financial advisers before making investment decisions.
Subscribers using Moniepoint agents are required to complete transactions through approved channels and retain payment receipts, while confirmations will be sent via SMS to registered telephone numbers.
