- Blames Leaders for Plunging Nigeria Into Socio-Economic Problems
MEDIA entrepreneur and owner of Kaftan TV, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has submitted his letter of expression of interest to the leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to gun for the presidency in the 2023 general elections, vowing to change the narrative if elected president.
Prince Adebayo blamed Nigerian leaders for deliberately plunging the country into its ongoing economic and socio-economic problems, insisting that leaders, past and present, purposely ignored solutions to the country’s numerous challenges as a result of greed and self-service.
According to the presidential hopeful who pledged to accord women involvement in governance a top priority if he emerged president, Prince Adebayo revealed that SDP is collaborating with unseen political forces to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress come 2023, assuring that a government under the SDP will address the nation’s challenges.
He lamented the many obstacles currently being faced by Nigerians, top among which include insecurity, fuel scarcity, and perennial strikes by ASUU, among “too many other problems with known solutions that are never implemented.”
He further stated: “Indeed, the leaders know the solutions to our problems as a country, but they have deliberately ignored them; thereby allowing the masses to suffer unnecessarily. Of course, the solutions to our problems are known, but the leaders have been shying away from them. Nigeria requires leadership that is why we are contesting under the platform of the SDP; to provide the desired leadership.
“There is no excuse for Nigerians to be in darkness, when they’re many alternative sources of power. For instance, you generate power in your house through solar and electric generator. Why can’t it work for the entire country? This is simply because the politicians in power don’t want it to work. This administration has negative electricity generation. However, we will fix that when we take over government.
“Also, I will resolve the lingering ASUU strike as a President. It’s a problem that can be solved. Something can be done about it to put this strike issue to a stop. Unlike in my days at the University, we now have too much money as a country, yet ASUU is on strike. So, I will ensure that the tertiary institutions are managed by academia. As long as the non-academic people continue to manage the Universities, we will continue to have problems.
“Meanwhile, I am in the SDP to win the presidential election for Nigerians. When that happens, Nigerians will see and experience quality leadership. I have confidence that with the new electoral act, the SDP and other platforms collaborating will win the presidential election.
“We are coming with fresh men and fresh ideas. The problem of Nigeria is not what we have, but how to manage it. In the past, when the resources were managed well, the country had a lot of money. Women are part of the country and will be included in my government. The problems of women are the same problems of the country. The women want jobs, security, a good society and freedom. Everyone wants that, so we will provide all of them when elected in 2023.”
I’m 100% follower of Aminu Kano
Prince Adebayo had on Tuesday last week stated while paying homage to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero stated that injustice is the missing link and bane to the growth and development of the country. According to him, injustice is responsible for the too many woes of the country ranging from insecurity, clamour for secession and corruption among others.
Assuring the emir that if given the mandate in 2023 he will ensure that justice and rule of law prevail in Nigeria, Prince Adebayo said no country is too poor to be just.
“The problem of Nigeria can be reduced to one thing, and that is injustice. No country is too poor to be just. You cannot say you want to borrow money from World Bank or IMF to do justice. You can do justice wherever you are. And if you do justice, you will see abundance. Because a just person will not be corrupt, cheat or take advantage of the office to loot the resources to himself and his friends.
“When Nigeria used to have less, we were happier. That is when we had no oil, we were happier. For thousands of years, Nigeria has been under natural leadership. And all the leaders had always known that Justice is what you give to the people. And I have been recommending to all my fellow politicians not to go around promising people bridges, water and things you are not going to do. But promise what you can do which is justice. And in this land, we will do justice.
“So justice is the beginning and end of my mission in politics, and when there is justice, there will be no religious, ethnic, economic, ideological, political or cultural differences because justice is an attribute of God.
“The insecurity in Nigeria also arises from injustice. I believe when we come into power, the bandits will go back to where they came from because justice will rule over the land. I am a 100 per cent follower of late Aminu Kano. I would not have been in politics today if there was no Aminu Kano. And I know he was in politics because of the late Alhaji [Sa’ad] Zungur. The way I refer to Aminu Kano as my leader is the way he referred to Zungur as his leader. So my complete political education is around the principles of the late Aminu Kano; he stood for justice.
“I am in Kano because it is a photography of the nation where you have every ethnicity represented in the state. So if you want to speak Nigeria, just come to Kano,” Prince Adebayo stated.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero enjoined politicians to eschew politics of bitterness ahead of the 2023 general elections just as he commended the entourage for having representation of women and youths.
