THE YOBE State Government is to partner with a tech firm to digitise its civil service; the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara, made this known in Damaturu on Monday during a strategic briefing with consultants from the “Speak in Codes”, the firm engaged to deploy the system.

Betara the state government has begun implementation of a transformative Human Resource Management System (HRMS) known as the Human Resource Suite (HR Suite), to modernise workforce administration across the state’s civil service.

The HR Suite, he said, as an important platform for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and regulatory compliance in human resource operations.

He said the Office of the Head of Service would serve as the central coordinating unit for the execution of the initiative.

“The HR Suite is designed to standardise and digitise all personnel processes, aligning them with best practices to improve service delivery in Yobe State,” he said.

He also noted that the state government had recently undertaken significant reforms in succession planning, including the streamlining of frameworks to ensure sustainability and institutional memory.

“The integration of the nominal roll into the succession plan is crucial for effective workforce planning and continuity,” the HoS added.

Betara reiterated Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering commitment to civil service development, particularly in the area of continuous capacity building for public servants.

“The ‘Train-the-Trainer’ approach will be adopted to ensure that designated staff in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are adequately equipped to cascade knowledge on the new HR Suite across the system,” he stated.

He commended Governor Buni for his visionary leadership and support for institutional reforms, adding that the deployment of the HR Suite would significantly enhance succession planning and overall efficiency in public administration.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration in the Office of the Head of Service, Malam Mustapha, said the newly upgraded nominal roll meets international standards and would provide a reliable database for personnel management.

Mustapha emphasised that the digitalisation of records would improve audit processes and ensure consistency in staffing records across MDAs.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gesture is part of a broader effort by the Yobe Government to institutionalise performance-driven public service anchored on innovation, professionalism, and accountability. (NAN)
