THE POLICE Command in Niger has arrested 27-year-old Fatima Dzuma for alleged mariticide (killing husband).

Dzuma is alleged to have killed her 25-year-old husband, Baba Aliyu, in Katcha LGA of the state.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer, Niger Command, disclosed this in Minna on Monday. He explained that the arrest was made between Dec. 24, 2024 and Jan. 4.

Abiodun explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had an altercation on the fateful day.

He said that the wife used a pestle to strike her husband on the head during the altercation, resulting to his death.

He also disclosed that one Aminu Amale, 45, was arrested for allegedly demanding N9.5 million from a farmer in Mariga local government Area.

He added that three suspected armed robbers, Jibrin Ndako, 19, Haruna Abubakar, 20, and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, were arrested in Minna for planning to burgle a provision store.

Abiodun said that the suspects were found with three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter, and had planned to use them to break into the store.

He also stated that one Abubakar Sadiq was arrested for allegedly killing a motorcyclist, Abdulrahman Isah 20, and stealing his motorcycle.

The police spokesperson added that two receivers, Ibrahim Garba and Bala Usman, were arrested for allegedly buying the stolen motorcycle.

Abiodun stated that the suspects would be transferred to the state CID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.

He assured the public that the command would continue to ensure that crime and criminality were reduced to the barest minimum in the state. (NAN)
