PROPHET Isa El-Buba, Convener, Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, has declared support for Prince Adewole Adebayo, Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential hopeful, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made the declaration in a statement on Wednesday, while congratulating the SDP on its peaceful and successful national convention.

The cleric also cautioned against any attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, stressing that democratic plurality remained essential to national stability.

He said Nigeria’s vast human and natural resources had not translated into improved living conditions for citizens, lamenting rising insecurity, unemployment, poverty and social injustice.

According to him, successive leadership failures had continued to deny young people opportunities for education, empowerment and economic prosperity.

“Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty and injustice,” he said.

El-Buba said the current realities in the country required urgent collective action to redirect the nation’s development path.

“Now is the time that we need to join forces together to rewrite history. Nigeria cannot continue to go through pain, frustration and clueless leadership,” he said.

He warned that attempts to weaken political competition could undermine democracy, insisting that justice and equity were non-negotiable for peace and national cohesion.

“Nigeria cannot go into a one-party state. Every system survives by justice and equity. Oppression is never the pathway to stability and peace cannot thrive in the midst of injustice,” he said.

The cleric declared support for Adebayo, adding that members of his movement would mobilise ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

He urged Nigerians seeking national renewal to support leaders committed to rebuilding trust and restoring national values.

El-Buba also condemned vote-buying and political inducement, saying Nigerians were increasingly resistant to such practices.

“Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country,” he said.

He also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, describing the current period as a moment of “national rebirth” and renewed search for purposeful leadership. (NAN)
