A KEEP fit and humanitarian organisation, Walk For Good, has carried out medical interventions and distributed food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps and orphanages.

A founding member of the organisation, Mr Tim Tor Jim, popularly called Coach Tim, made this known to journalists Monday during a walkout exercise by members of the organisation as part of their activities marking 2024 Easter celebration.

He said Walk For Good was founded 10 years ago by like-minds to keep fit occasionally and give back to the society by executing projects in key places.

“No matter how rich or poor you are, if you don’t have that culture of giving back, you won’t give”, coach Tim asserted as he called on well spirited individuals to join them in reaching out to their target beneficiaries.

He disclosed that in the spirit of 2024 Easter celebration, Walk For Good had on Sunday (March 31, 2024) dewormed children and women as well as carried out free Blood Pressure (BP) test for adults in two communities; Nyon layout and Tse-Kwembe, within Makurdi environs, adding that the humanitarian organization has over the time distributed food and medical items to orphanages.

“We have a medical team. Everybody you see here belongs to a particular field or profession. So, we bring in our skills from various fields to see how Walk For Good can advance for humanitarian service.

“We have also been to IDP camps at Ortese camp and Daudu camp 1&2 to distribute food and medical items. That’s one of our biggest projects so far. At Ortese camp, we stumbled into a toilet problem and we gave them a lot of toiletries and sanitizers on world toilet day”, Tim said.

He announced that their next workout will be in October, 2024 and they will clean up Wurukum roundabout within Makurdi metropolis as a project to market the exercise.

Coach Tim attributed the low turnout for the exercise this time to Easter holiday which some of their members embarked on trips and were yet to return to Makurdi.

In his remarks, the chairman, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Dr John Chen, who is also a founding member of Walk For Good encouraged members to remain committed to the project and commended the convener, Christy Nyikwagh for her relentlessness.

Highlights of the event were the workout exercise from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state secretariat, Makurdi to international market and back to the take off point as well as cultural entertainment and reception to wind down stress.
